Engine Sim Permissions Explained: Why It Asks for Storage
What permissions the app requests, why storage access is needed, and which requests should worry you.

The full permission list
The engine sim apk asks for storage/files access and, on some Android versions, nothing else of note. That is the entire list that matters. It does not ask for your contacts, your location, your SMS, your microphone, or your camera.
Why storage?
The app reads its own sound data from storage. The 28 synthesized engines live in data files the app needs to reach every time you rev. Those files are small sound banks, usually a few megabytes each, and the app never writes outside its own folder, so granting access exposes nothing personal. Deny the permission and the app can sit silent or refuse to load engines, which is behind a surprising number of no-sound reports.
How to grant it later
Denied it at first launch? Settings, Apps, Engine Sim, Permissions, then allow storage or files access. On Android 13 and up the toggle may read Files and media or Music and audio instead of Storage; either one gives the app what it needs. Restart the app and the engines load.
When to worry
If any copy of the app ever asks for contacts, location, SMS, or device-admin rights, stop. That is not our file. Delete it and get the scanned build from the official download page. The safety guide covers the full picture.
